WRAPPING 150 SHOE-BOX GIFTS

The Rotary Club of Port Alberni packed and wrapped 150 shoe-box gifts for local shelter and transition homes residents. The contents of the boxes were a community effort. Warm hats were handmade throughout the year by one of the Rotarian wives, and hygiene items were provided by Soap for Hope (and delivered to us by a member of the Arrowsmith Rotary Club). Also in the boxes were socks, playing cards, and treats. Local shoe stores saved boxes for the project.

Rotarians and their families worked together over an extended lunch to pack and wrap the boxes Dec. 15. This has been an annual project for the Rotary Club of Port Alberni for many years, but the need this year meant twice as many boxes were delivered.

I will have something new for you in a few weeks, still finalizing the plan!
