Motivation is present when we are doing something we care about. Most Rotarians are motivated to and care about doing something for our community. This community could be our neighborhood, our city or town, our state, our province, our country, our world, or our universe.
District Governor Lorna has provided us an opportunity to collectively do something that will help our community. This opportunity is entitled “Rotary District 5020 Environment Service Day.” Everyone knows by now that the project centers around cleaning up a street, beach, park, or another area of our community. Each participating club can choose where and when they want to clean, although It is suggested that it be on or around Earth Day, April 22nd.
Each club can also choose to serve independently or partner with other Rotary clubs in a joint venture. Other service clubs and organizations outside Rotary can be involved in a group effort. The more people participate, the more that can be accomplished. The more people involved, the better the image District 5020 clubs project, demonstrating that Rotarians are leaders. This could lead to an increase in our club memberships.
The project also fits into Rotary International’s newest goal regarding the environment. This project could be the pacesetter for other districts to emulate. Let us show them how well the Clubs in our District can work together.
“Kindness should be a natural part of life rather than the exception.”
