Event: West Coast Oyster Shucking Championship and Washington State Seafood Festival known as “Oysterfest”. This festival includes a Friday night kickoff event known as “Oysterfunk”.
Since 1982 Shelton Skookum Rotary has hosted this unique event that assists local nonprofits who participate as vendors to raise funds. Additionally, it promotes the local shellfish industry, water quality, shoreline management and other aquaculture topics.
Attendees will enjoy Oyster shucking competitions, live music, food, microbrews, wine tasting, family activities, community, and marine exhibits. Last year alone over $200,000 was raised for and by the local nonprofits who serve Shelton and greater Mason County.
All Rotary Clubs in Mason County are involved!
The main OysterFest event is coordinated and run by the Shelton Skookum Rotary Club on October 7th and 8th. During that event the wine pavilion is staffed and run this year by the Salish Sea Rotary Club. Serving up Shrimp Melts, the North Mason Rotary club will operate a food vendor booth.
Shelton Rotary Club hosts the OysterFunk kickoff event on Friday night, October 6th. This fun event for 21+ includes great live music, food, and drink.
