Mark your calendars for an evening of fun, camaraderie, and giving back as Tacoma South Rotary proudly presents its 27th Annual Mini-Golf Tournament on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Harkness Furniture Store on South Tacoma Way. You’re invited to be part of this exciting event where we combine the joy of mini-golf with the warmth of community.

Our mission is simple yet powerful – raise money and have a blast while doing it! Picture yourself playing 18 holes of mini-golf in the unique setting of Harkness Furniture store. Chill to the mellow sound of The Equinox band as you navigate the greens. The doors open at 5 pm, offering you a chance to unwind with drinks and mingle with fellow attendees. One of the key highlights of our event is the Silent Auction, where you can bid on fantastic items and experiences.

We’ll gather at 6 o’clock for a catered dinner and the “Raise the Paddle” portion of event, setting the stage for an evening of giving. The highlight of the night, our Tee Times, begins at 7 p.m. It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for, where you can tee off and test your mini-golf skills on this one-of-a-kind course.

This year, our theme is “Unleashing Hope: One Paw at a Time.” Tacoma South Rotary members believe that one person can make a difference … but, we know that the power of many moves mountains and makes a measurable difference in the lives of people in Pierce County.

This year’s Raise the Paddle recipient is American Military Families – Action Network’s “100 Service Dogs for 100 Veterans” program.

During the Raise the Paddle, our goal is to raise $30,000 to outfit 100 Service Dog teams with the essential training equipment they need. This includes Service Dog vests, collars, training leashes, training tables, rubber floor matting, hand-pieces, hand instruments, doggie clean-up bags, food bowls, tug toys and dog beds.

The “100 Service Dogs for 100 Veterans” program is a novel concept designed by veterans, for veterans, with the noble aim of preventing veteran suicides.

Every month, approximately 600 veterans tragically commit suicide. Overall, Washington state has had one of the highest veteran suicide rates in the nation in recent years based on CDC data.

Each Service Dog Team trained through this program has the potential to save not just one, but two lives – the life of the veteran the life of a rescued kennel pup trained to become a service dog. The results of this program will be nothing short of life-saving. In our hearts, we believe that numbers matter, but there is no greater measure of success than the smiles on the faces of veterans as they train their service dogs.

So, circle October 20th, 2023, and join us for an evening of hope, compassion, and joy. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of veterans and their faithful companions.

Be a part of something extraordinary – see you at Tacoma South Rotary’s 27th Annual Mini-Golf Tournament!
