“The world is ran by those who show up.” It is imperative to show up in the Rotary way, service above self. The Rotary Club of Puyallup has chosen to show up for their city by pledging the foundational funds for the Rotary Teen Center to be designed, developed, and built inside the Puyallup Library. With the library being centrally located in the heart of the city, teens will have access to the facility, community resources, and programming provided.
When the city had a vision, they reached out to those who care. Rotary Club of Puyallup stepped up to make this project possible. This particular project will cost approximately $500k, of which the Rotary Club of Puyallup will donate $100k over the next three years, the largest donation from a civic club to the city in its history. “We are passionate about empowering youth to discover their potential and exceed their dreams.” – Rotary Club of Puyallup Public Relations Officer Renne Gilliam.
The space will include:
- An open area for versatile use.
- A meeting room.
- Cubby space for focused personal processing.
There will be modern mobile furniture, multiple monitors, and a soundproof sliding glass door for privacy and accountability. Programming to be offered is up for discussion based on student/youth need inspired by youth voice.
With the diversity of professional influence, business, philanthropy, and community networking that Rotary provides, the youth will be set up for success in our city. Let us be an example of speaking life into our youth. Let Rotary be the map creator for building community. We rise by lifting others. We are better together. Service above self.
