The RYLA Vancouver Island Committee is pleased to once again be able to have youth ages 12-15 (grades 8-10) from all over District 5020 to come together for a weekend of leadership training, team building and fun at Camp Qwanoes November 18-20th, for the fifth annual RYLA VI.
The students are accommodated in a lodge, up to 7 participants per room. Females and males on separate floors, with adult supervision. Participants will need to bring their own bedding and toiletries, as well as a musical instrument for the talent show.
The program will be a multifaceted learning opportunity for the participants. They will interact with their peers, with guidance from the RYLA team to find out what makes a leader, looking at self-empowerment and social style awareness, Rotary youth exchange and initiative programming.
The youth will engage with a First Nations Panel to ask questions and delve into what reconciliation means to both the youth and the panel.
But it is not all work there will be plenty of opportunities for relaxation and fun on the Camp Qwanoes air walk park, a scavenger hunt, and activity breaks.
All the offerings on the weekend to the youth are designed:
- To promote group interaction and co-operation
- To provide avenues for initiative and creativity
- To draw upon the individual’s resources
- To create an atmosphere of mutual support
- To increase the personal levels of agility and physical co-ordination among the group members
And of course, to have lots of fun!
All student expenses associated with this event are supported by the student’s local Rotary Club. We hope your club will sponsor a student.
Registration Deadline is November 6, 2022. Cost of registration $275.00 cdn. Per student.
Camp Qwanoes is located at 1148 Smith Rd, Crofton, BC, with a lovely ocean view.
