SHELTERBOX AND ROTARY PARTNERING AGAIN IN RESPONSE TO HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN UKRAINE

ShelterBox is responding to the Ukraine crisis with the help of countless Rotarians. We are working with the UN, other humanitarian partners, and Rotary to deliver aid to people both in Ukraine and the 3.2 million, and counting, refugees fleeing to neighboring countries, like Moldova.

The humanitarian needs in Ukraine are significant and dramatically increasing as a result of the escalation in conflict. Winter temperatures fall as low as -8 °C, causing additional severe challenges. We are focusing our attention and resources in countries the require most support for their humanitarian response. Learn more about the response here.

Rotarians are playing a pivotal role in the Ukraine crisis response; helping us fundraise and supporting on the ground logistics in Eastern Europe. We are closely liaising with Rotary District 2231 in Poland and with wider regional coordination framework under RI Director Katarina Kotsalis. The President of the Rotary e-club of Moldova International, Luminita Gavrilulta, has introduced the team on the ground to the Moldovan Minister for Labour and Social Protection and Rotarians in country. They have helped to deliver crucial information on urgent needs and make senior level introductions for ShelterBox.

Canadian Rotarians have also been busy fundraising in their local communities; at hockey games and flower shops, in their retirement homes, and among friends. The donations we are receiving now will go directly to our response in Ukraine. Any additional money raised beyond what is needed for this response will help ShelterBox provide emergency shelter to families affected by disaster around the world. Help fundraise to support those impacted by the crisis in Ukraine, visit our Rotary Action Toolkit here.
