NGAMO SECONDARY SCHOOL- ZIMBABWE

In the remote village of Ngamo at the edge of the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, near the Kalahari desert, a secondary school compound was erected by several organizations, including Imvelo Safari Lodges and the Water4Wildlife Trust, working together to serve several remote villages in the area.

The organizations built two dormitories, one for boys, one for girls, and an ablution building. Children often had to walk 10-15 miles to school every day, which put them at individual risk because of wildlife and other factors. Sandra Senter, a private individual from the Seattle area, took it upon herself to improve the school.

She contacted the Poulsbo-North Kitsap Rotary Club for support to provide bunk beds in the dormitories so the kids that had to walk the farthest could spend the week in safety at the school. Poulsbo-NK Rotary Club provided funds to apurchase 16 bunk beds and 32 mattresses. Despite several obstacles and with some difficulty, the bunk beds and mattresses were delivered in June 2023.

This is testimony that one person can make a difference – a big difference!
