If you like to eat, cook and socialize, don’t miss the launch of District 5020’s new Gourmet Fellowship. On Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 1PM, you and a guest are invited to Tacoma to kick off this new District Fellowship. The theme for this kickoff is an indoor tailgate party in a community room with two TV screens showing football playoff games. All you do is bring your favorite tailgate food and beverage to share. How this Fellowship continues (group sizes, locations, when) will be decided at this gathering. The room capacity this time is 120 people, so there is plenty of room for District Rotarians from North to South to join this kickoff.
There are about 100 existing Rotary Fellowships (see rotary.org/fellowships) with members who share a common interest. This new District Fellowship will be part of Gourmet Cooking Fellowship. Being part of a fellowship is a way to make friends around the world and enhance your Rotary experience. RI chartered the World Fellowship of Rotarian Gourmets in 1991.
The Gourmet Fellowship is designed to:
- Cook and enjoy fine foods of all countries
- Appreciate good wines of all countries
- Create innovative recipes which can be exchanged between chapter members
- Learn more about the finer art of food decoration and presentation
- Gather with friends who share a mutual interest
If there is sufficient interest and good attendance at this one-time event, future spinoff gatherings can likely be hosted in a Rotarian’s home or location selected by the host, with the host selecting the menu. The group will decide how often they meet. All members are expected to enjoy cooking and trying new recipes.
Mark your calendars now and let one of the organizers know if you are interested or have questions. Soon we’ll need a head count and ask for RSVPs. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on January 22!
