The Rotary Club of Kelso was in the mood to Spell-ebrate on March 23rd.
A grand time full of fun and laughter was had by all as Rotarians and community members raised money for a worthwhile cause: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Spell-ebration is a trivia-style spelling bee competition, with teams of five competing for the grand prize. This year brought a full house of contestants, with 14 teams competing for the grand prize of $500. Mulligans were available for purchase to help each team stay in the game! The winning team, the “Lewis County Dolls,” won the contest after a tight race with team “Onomatopoeias.”
Spell-ebration’s proceeds of $3,500 will entirely support the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free high-quality books to kids five and under across the United States on a monthly basis. Dolly Parton (well, at least her cut-out) was even in attendance! Grant’s at the Monticello hosted
Spell-bration in their ballroom. Tickets included a delicious taco bar and raffle prizes donated by the United Way of Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Counties, a proud sponsor and partner of Spell-ebration.
Kelso Rotary would like to thank Rotarians Tom Lee (Event Chair), Josh Carter (Master of Ceremonies), and David Futcher (Official “Word Master”), plus the whole planning committee.
