AG AREA / CLUB NAMES: Area 6 | Oak Bay, Saanich, Westshore, Victoria, Sooke, Victoria Rotaract
YEAR JOINED ROTARY: 2012
- Why did you join Rotary? What did you expect from your Rotary membership?
I was asked to join by a friend who had been a member for many years. It finally worked into my work/life schedule so I applied for membership. I was wanted to participate in fundraisers for projects both locally and internationally, be involved in community services and meet new people.
- Has Rotary lived up to your expectations – how?
Everything I expected came to fruition. Our club is involved in successful fundraising activities, contributes to worthwhile projects both locally an internationally, and I’ve met some really interesting, genuine people.
- We know Rotary is a big part of your life, but what do you like to do for fun? Hobbies?
Travel. I have a long list of place I’d like to visit and it’s been fun for me to plan different trips. I’m also a new grandparent and that’s always fun.
- What inspired you to become involved at the club level? Then at the district level?
I was talked into being Secretary in my second year of Rotary. I enjoyed being a part of the Board and it gave me a larger view of the club. Since that first assignment I have been on the Board as President, Community Services Director in addition to 3 years as Secretary. The AG assignment is my first at the district level. I look forward to meeting Rotarians from different clubs and providing service on a broader scale.
- Best experience so far as Assistant Governor?
Being welcomed so warmly by the Area Club Presidents.
- When will we see you as the District Governor?
This is not likely to happen in my future.
