- Why did you join Rotary? What did you expect from your Rotary membership?
My dad was a lifelong Rotarian, it made a positive impression on me, and I always intended to join. Unfortunately, my career in business involved extensive travel and I could not, in being fair, commit to a weekly meeting and attendance requirements, so I was a late starter in Rotary.
I had no expectations when joining, except to try and serve others.
- Has Rotary lived up to your expectations – how?
Yes, more than lived up to expectations. Our club had multiple options for me to quickly get engaged in serving, fellow members were eager to assist and mentor me in being successful. I have also made many friends and had a lot of fun over the years!
- We know Rotary is a big part of your life, but what do you like to do for fun? Hobbies?
I like to ride bicycles, especially uphill, yes sounds strange but there is something about hills, especially riding mountain passes that is challenging and satisfying. Traveling, hiking, building projects and spending time with family and friends is also a lot of fun!
- What inspired you to become involved at the club level? Then at the district level?
My fellow members, I saw what they were doing in terms of having a positive impact and it inspired me to step up and help lead. I saw helping at the district level as a thank you for what Rotary has provided me and to help others, at the club level, by passing on what I have learned.
- Best experience so far as Assistant Governor?
Interacting with club presidents and PE’s to help them with the challenges of being a club President. The opportunity to help organize clubs in assisting with the annual Mary Bridge Courage bike event to help prevent child abuse has been a real privilege.
- When will we see you as the District Governor?
My focus is on being an asset to my Area clubs at this point in time.
