GET TO KNOW YOUR ASSISTANT GOVERNOR – LINDA KAYE BRIGGS

NAME: Linda Kaye Briggs
HOME CLUB: Tacoma #8
AG AREA / CLUB NAMES: Area 12.5 | Tacoma North, Tacoma Sunset, Tacoma Sunrise, Tacoma #8, University Place-Fircrest

YEAR JOINED ROTARY: 1999

  1. Why did you join Rotary? What did you expect from your Rotary membership?

Honestly, my boss at the time, the CEO, suggested I join for networking purposes. I expected to meet many colleagues in the community and other leaders I wanted to meet and know!

  1. Has Rotary lived up to your expectations – how?

More than I could have imagined. I truly had no idea that I would serve as a President of such an institutional club, like Tacoma #8.  And certainly not ever thinking I would serve as an AG. Another example, I would have never dreamed that I would travel to India and inoculate so many children for polio and sing with local children in the streets….the ABC’s in English!

  1. We know Rotary is a big part of your life, but what do you like to do for fun? Hobbies?

I love to travel…………anywhere!! I walk 20-30 miles per week, I love to keep moving. And, I’ve taken up the hobby of “mountain hiking” with 2 other “mature” ladies ( ) as we train for a hiking vacation in Portland Maine in September.

  1. What inspired you to become involved at the club level? Then at the district level?

I think in both instances, I was approached, individually from people that I admired. And they shared they had “belief” in my potential to be an inspirational leader.

  1. Best experience so far as Assistant Governor?

Meeting NEW Rotarians in my city, that are as dedicated and committed as me. Truly, new friendships, that will most likely last many years.

  1. When will we see you as the District Governor?

I’m fairly confident that one cannot be employed and dedicate time to this important job. I own my own business and unsure of how long I will continue my business.
