- Why did you join Rotary? What did you expect from your Rotary membership?
I Joined Rotary as I believed in serving my community and I had been involved in some service clubs before and I also felt that Rotary would benefit me in my professional life. I was not disappointed, Rotary did change my life and continues to be one of the favorite parts of my week!
- Has Rotary lived up to your expectations – how?
Rotary has far exceeded my expectations, I have been inspired by fellow members of my club and the Rotary family. We all came to Rotary from differing backgrounds and for different reasons, yet we all share common goals and the desire to give back to our communities and throughout the world.
- We know Rotary is a big part of your life, but what do you like to do for fun? Hobbies?
I am recently retired and I definitely enjoy spending time at home, working on projects and some old cars. I enjoy camping and spending time with family and friends. I am an avid WSU Coug and enjoy going to home football games with my wife, son (also a Coug), and friends. And without a doubt, I really enjoy spending time with my 3 year old granddaughter…. I had no idea how fun it would be to be a grandparent.
- What inspired you to become involved at the club level? Then at the district level?
I was asked to fill several club level officer positions and eventually to serve as the President, each position was both gratifying and challenging. I found that I learned more about Rotary, and enjoyed Rotary more, with every position that I took. I was then asked to consider the AG position, the time was right for me and I look to learn more about Rotary at the District level. I consider myself fortunate to have been selected as an AG.
- Best experience so far as Assistant Governor?
Being able to help the incoming Presidents with some of the challenges that they are facing. and I was asked to present Paul Harris Fellow Awards at a club installation, it was a fantastic experience for me.
- When will we see you as the District Governor?
At this time I do not see the DG position in my future plans.. But other District Level Positions may be a possibility…
