That is what it took to pick up 2100 lbs of garbage in Nanaimo, BC, for Environmental Day on April 23rd. Organized by the five local Rotary Clubs, Nanaimo, Nanaimo Daybreak, Lantzville, Nanaimo North, and Oceanside, teams of 5-7 people were dispatched to various locations throughout the city.
Joining in the efforts were Rotoracters, the Great Garbage Grab Team, Team Copenhagen Cycling, and many other volunteers.
A big THANK YOU goes out to the City of Nanaimo for helping load all 2100 lbs into a truck and hauling it to the dump. The reality is the city does not have the resources to pick up street-level trash. The word got out, people showed up, and neighbourhoods were cleaned up.
